100 Days of Wallbanger: EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT from Rusty Nailed by Alice Clayton and GIVEAWAY

Have you missed Simon and Caroline as much as we have?! Well, the countdown is on. We’re only 100 days away from the much-anticipated sequel to Wallbanger. . .

Rusty Nailed cover

In this sequel to Wallbanger, fan favorites Caroline Reynolds and Simon Parker negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in Sausalito.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on an extended honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy-long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel. And with Simon, her hotshot photographer boyfriend, gallivanting all over the world for his job, the couple is heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. No complaints about the great reunion sex, though!

Then a trip back east to his childhood home has Simon questioning his nomadic lifestyle. He decides to be home more. A lot more. And he wants Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort out their relationship. Sure, more togetherness is a good thing—but does less traveling and working have to mean the other extreme? Apple pie and picket fences? With this second book in the Cocktail series, USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy confection of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!

I passed by on my way to the kitchen, and was stopped by a hand on my ass.

“Hi,” he answered, his eyes still on the computer.

“You need something?”

“Always,” he answered, maneuvering my ass so it was on his lap.

“Not always, you were sleeping earlier,” I pouted, as he swept a piece of hair behind my ear.

“I’m not sleeping now.”

“I’ve got turnovers.”

“I already like where this is going,” he murmured, his hands tightening around my waist.

“No no, I mean I have turnovers. That I need to put in the oven.”

“Wait, those are like tiny pies, right?”

“Yes, Simon, they’re like tiny pies.”

“Have mercy.”

“You know what it does to me when you go Uncle Jesse on me.”

His eyes widened, and something else hardened. “I do indeed.”

Kissed me fierce he did, and while I did my best to remind him of my turnovers, he did his best to make me forget. And I did, until the doorbell rang.

“Dammit,” he muttered, releasing me.

“Saved by the bell,” I sang out, rising off his lap.

“You know what it does when you go Kelly Kapowski on me.”

“I do indeed. And if you’re a good boy tonight I’ll give you my own special Bayside cheer later on.” I winked, and danced away from his grabby hands. “Now go do something with that,” I instructed, pointing at his enthusiasm.

He strutted away.

Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting: Review, Author Interview, and Audiobook Giveaway

In the world of Twilight fanfiction, there are stories that are known as “biggies.” Clipped Wings & Inked Armor is definitely one of them. So when it was announced that it was going to be published, Kitt and I were excited for the author and for the chance to watch her mainstream career take flight. (See what we did there?) Helena is also one of those authors who is very appreciative of her fans and approachable on Twitter. You’re going to love her and her words if you don’t already. Speaking of her words…

F2F: First of all, thank you for agreeing to this Q&A and for giving us the opportunity to do an audiobook giveaway of Clipped Wings. We’re thrilled to be a small part of this next step in your journey.

HH: It really is a pleasure! Thank you for inviting me to chat!

F2F: When you wrote the original Clipped Wings & Inked Armor as Twilight fanfiction, was it just something you did for fun or had you always wanted to be a writer?

HH: When I started Clipped Wings & Inked Armor back in 2009, I was taking a break from another piece I was writing. I inadvertently stumbled across fanfic (I’m not sure there’s any other way for that to happen). After reading several stories, I thought it would be interesting to write one of my own. I just wanted to see if I could write something people would want to read. I’ve always written, however, the vast majority of my stories are packed away in boxes in my basement. Until CW&IA, I’d kept my writing very private. That story changed things. (A/N: We’re so glad it did!)

F2F: Do you have any advice for aspiring writers hoping to get published?

HH: Edit. Edit. Edit. And outline. I had a very loose working outline for CW&IA when I started writing it way back when. I was about six chapters into the rewrite when my very patient, kind, reasonable friend Alex put the brakes on and encouraged me to flesh out an outline. It took about a month. I sucked at it. But eventually I got to the point where I had a very tight outline for both Clipped Wings and Inked Armor. After that, the writing process was much smoother.

I encourage writers to find crit partners and to set aside the fear of cutting scenes or chapters if they disrupt the flow of the story. In the case of CW&IA, I cut out about half the book. I was extraordinarily fortunate to have a group of women from The Writers’ Collective (here) work with me on three manuscripts. By the time we got to IA, we were all very comfortable with the process. A first draft is just that…a first draft. The hard work comes after.

F2F: Speaking of getting published, how did you celebrate once you got the acceptance news?

With tears of joy and some wine. My agent Brooks and I spent nearly a year on submission and in that time I’d rewritten the entire story. There were definitely some moments when I questioned whether it would ever happen. I took the story from 430k down to roughly 225k. It was challenging, but being able to hold the book in my hands makes it worth it.

F2F: Transitioning from fanfic gave you the freedom to pick new character names. Is there any significance in choosing Hayden and Tenley?

I picked the name Hayden Stryker long before I started the rewrite. It just fit his character. Stryker always makes me think of lightning, which is reflective of Hayden. He’s electric, severe, intense. I wanted his name to reveal that about him.

Tenley’s name is unusual, and so are her circumstances. Tenley is a unique individual – her trauma, her experiences, who she becomes during the story. I wanted her name to embody that about her. And I thought it was quirky and cool, so I ran with it.

F2F: Hayden and Tenley have deeply personal issues to overcome, issues that both help and get in the way of their growing relationship. You write their struggle so beautifully. How did their story come to you? Which character was in your head first?

HH: Their story developed as a result of events that occurred which stuck with me. A groom and groomsmen were in a limo on their way to the wedding. A tractor trailer jackknifed and everyone died, leaving a devastated bride at the altar. That kind of trauma would leave deep scars. It made me question how someone could move on from such deep emotional wounds.

I suppose that indirectly answers the next question. Tenley’s trauma was the inception, but Hayden was the one I developed first. With his own traumatic past and his poor coping skills, he was the one person who could understand and relate to Tenley in a way others might not. She was the catalyst for a change that had been coming long before her arrival in his life. The body modification acted as the vehicle for connection and healing, within and between them.

F2F: What made you decide to write the prequel novella Cupcakes and Ink as opposed to a sequel? Or can fans also look forward to a sequel novella? (hint, hint)

HH: Cupcakes and Ink was an opportunity to explore Tenley and Hayden’s frame of mind just prior to meeting. Tenley is running from a past she can’t escape and she’s in such a dark, lonely place. Hayden is on the cusp of change. Neither one of them knows what’s coming until it hits them.

If you’re referring to Cracks in the Armor, it’s about secondary characters in CW & IA 🙂 I don’t have a sequel planned for Hayden and Tenley after Inked Armor, but I’d love to write Chris and Sarah’s story.

F2F: We really love the unique covers. Did you have any input into designing them?

HH: I sure did! I had lots of ideas for the covers, and I passed them over to the art team at S&S. They did such a fabulous job turning those initial ideas into gorgeous artwork. I love the juxtaposition between the covers for Clipped Wings and Inked Armor. It’s such a reflection of the light and dark.

F2F: We’re thrilled that Clipped Wings is also available as an audiobook! How involved were you in the process?

HH: My involvement was limited, but I adore Jason Carpenter’s and Elizabeth Louise’s voices for Hayden and Tenley. Hayden’s voice is so deadpan, and it makes me smile every time I hear it. (A/N: I read the ARC, but as a self-professed audiobook addict, I will definitely be doing a “reread” by listening to the audiobook! -Lisa)

F2F: If your fics were to one day be turned into flicks, who do you envision in the lead roles?

HH: This is a question I’ve pondered at length. Midian from SMIBooks brought my attention to a tatted up model named Stephen James who is absolutely gorgeous. If he was an actor, I’d put him in the role in a heartbeat. As for Tenley, Imogen Poots is gorgeous and well suited for the role.

Imogen Poots

Tenley (Imogen Poots)

F2F: Are you working on any other projects you can share with us? We know the Twilight fandom will want to know if The Misapprehension of Bella Swan will ever be published, for example.

HH: That is a project I’d love to work on! I’m hoping it’s one of the next I get to tackle. I already have names for those characters and they make me giggle. I have another completed manuscript ready to roll and I’m very much hoping I get to write Chris and Sarah’s story, because I love those characters. So yes, I have a few potential projects! (A/N: Very exciting news!)

F2F: Do you have any book signings/appearances coming up so fans can get out to meet you?

HH: I’ll be at RT in NOLA in May, LoveNVegas in October as well as the  DC Author Event in March 2015. I’ll be sure to post any signings and events on my website as they arise.

F2F: Congrats on the debut of Clipped Wings, and we wish you nothing but continued success as you find new readers!

HH: Thank you so much for making this a stop on the blog tour!

ClippedWings (2)

Their body art is hot. Their chemistry is even hotter.

From her dark hair sweeping below her waist to her soft, sexy curves, Tenley Page intrigues tattoo artist Hayden Stryker in a way no one else ever has…especially when she asks him to ink a gorgeous, intricate design on her back. Yet for all her beauty, there is something darkly tragic and damaged about Tenley that Hayden is everything.

Covered in ink and steel, Hayden is everything Tenley has never dared to want, awakening a desire to explore more than the art adorning his stunning body. Trapped by a past that leaves her screaming from nightmares, Tenley sees Hayden as the perfect escape. Although he has secrets too, if they both keep themselves guarded perhaps their intense physical connection will remain only that.

But nothing, not even passion, can keep them safe from their pasts…

Thanks to Gallery Books, we were fortunate enough to get an ARC of Clipped Wings to read in exchange for an honest review. But honestly? We already knew we were going to love it 🙂

For those of you who love your book boyfriend to be a tatted up bad boy with a big heart, you’re going to freaking love Hayden. For those of you who don’t think you would love your book boyfriend to be a tatted up bad boy with a big heart, you’re going to freaking love Hayden. And you’re going to love the way he helps Tenley tear down the wall she built to protect her heart and, in so doing, tears down his own.

With alternating POVs, Helena Hunting takes you on an emotional journey with these characters, and you will never look at tattoos (or cupcakes!) the same way again. The way she understands how deeply personal the art of ink is, and how that understanding creates so much intimacy between Hayden and Tenley, will take your breath away. These two have a long way to go to reconcile their hearts with their minds, but their souls have already started to fill in the outline.

In this thrilling and sexy follow-up to Sempre, two young lovers struggle to keep their relationship intact after they become deeply enmeshed in the dangerous mafia-run crime ring they once tried to overthrow.

Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco have been through a lot. Haven was taken in by Carmine’s father, and with his family’s help, she escaped a gruesome fate. However, saving Haven from the dark intentions of a mafia family cost Carmine a steep price: he was forced to swear loyalty to them.

Now, still passionately in love, Carmine and Haven must face the fall-out of Carmine’s forced service, as Haven discovers terrifying secrets about the family that enslaved both her and her mother—and why she matters so much in this intricate web of lies.

The smile fizzled from his face as he strolled through the house, heading straight for the drink table. He grabbed a small glass and filled it from an open liquor bottle, disregarding Corrado’s warning. The burn lessened the pressure in his chest, unwinding the knots and loosening his taut muscles.

He leaned against the table as he drank, his attention shifting to the front door. Hours had passed, yet the girl still stood there, as silent and still as ever. He studied her, wondering where she had come from and how long she had been trapped in Sal’s home. He couldn’t recall her ever being there before.

She snuck a peek after a moment, tipping her head up slightly so her blue eyes met his. Her brow furrowed when she saw him watching her, and she dropped her gaze again quickly.

“What’s your name?” Carmine asked curiously.

She peeked up once more but didn’t have a chance to respond before laughter sounded out behind him. Carmine turned at the noise of a clinking liquor bottle and froze, the glass nearly slipping from his hand as he stared at the badly scarred face. The familiarity took his breath away.

“Her name’s Annie, I think,” Carlo said, casually pouring a glass of scotch.

“Abby,” the girl whispered, her voice shaking as she corrected him.

“Not that it matters,” Carlo continued, shrugging. “You can call her anything you want.”

Carmine couldn’t tear his eyes away from him. Everything about the man screamed vile, from his callous words to his horrid face. “I prefer to call her by her name.”

Carlo looked over at him, studying him carefully. “DeMarco’s kid.”

“Makes sense.” Carlo brought his glass to his lips. “She’s your type.”

Anger swept through Carmine. He fought to control himself, forcing his feet to stay where they were. He wouldn’t be provoked. Not here, not now. “Excuse me?”

“Ah, no reason to be ashamed,” Carlo said. “If it’s any consolation, I’ve always liked to sample the help, too. Little Annie over there is a sweet thing. Submissive. Didn’t even put up a fight. Not that any of them do. Well, except yours. Feisty one, isn’t she? Didn’t get that from her mother.”

Carmine’s rage spiraled over. “You son of a—!”

Before he could leap over the liquor table and pound his fists into the man’s grotesque face, the noise in the room grew louder as a slew of guests filtered in. They scattered through, some heading for the door while others made their way to the back den. Carlo took a step back, tipping his glass at Carmine with a menacing smile. “Nice to officially meet you, kid. I’ll see you around.”

He sauntered away as Corrado approached, grabbing the glass from Carmine’s hand and slamming it on the table. “Your ability to listen is astounding.”

“Do you know what that motherfucker just said to me?” Carmine asked, clenching his hands into fists. “He just—”

Corrado cut him off. “I don’t care. He’s made, Carmine. You don’t disrespect a man who earned his button.”

We are filled with gratitude to be able to welcome Ms. Darhower to our blog! It’s such an honor to be able to promote her on a larger scale than by just a word-of-mouth recommendation. We know so many of our friends are long-time fans too!

1. We always want to know…. what was your inspiration in choosing the names Carmine and Haven?

I put a lot of thought into Haven. I wanted a name that would capture her essence, to describe her character with a simple word. A name says a lot about a person. And after going around in circles for a while, picking out keywords to describe her to try to find a name that matched, I just kept coming back to Haven. She’s a haven for a few characters, and it just seemed like the perfect name, something her mother would call her. As far as Carmine goes, he was easier. The moment it came time to give them names, he was just Carmine. It’s a fairly popular Italian name, and it sort of captures him, I think… beautiful, yet edgy. Took me all of five minutes to pin his full name down… Carmine Marcello DeMarco.

2. There are so many heart-breaking moments in the story that many of your readers will say moved them to tears or feelings of anguish. I remember feeling gutted at certain points. Which scene was the hardest for you to write? Did any of them actually make you cry? If so, which one(s)?

I tend to get emotional when I’m writing about death and loss, and yeah, a few times I shed some tears. The opening line of Redemption, when I wrote it, made me tear up a bit (writing those words were strangely hard). There’s also a letter in it that a character writes that made me cry. The hardest scene, in general for me, occurs over halfway through the sequel, when a certain character confronts the truth and finds his redemption in his own way (people who read it will completely understand).

3. We know through your writing and social media, you have tried to heighten awareness of modern-day human trafficking. Was there a particular event, news story, teacher, or something else that inspired you to base your story around this subject matter?

I can’t really pinpoint a specific event that inspired it as a whole… I just often think about the victims of human trafficking, the invisible people who exist in our society, nameless and faceless…. They’re there, breathing, and dreaming, and fighting for survival, and so few people notice them. So many people go missing, just vanishing into thin air, and we never know what happened to them; we never know their stories. So for me, writing Haven was sort of a way to say, “we see you”, in a sense.

4. We all have movie hopes for Carmine and Haven’s story, but we understand how difficult the process is and that there have been snags along the way. Are there any positive developments with the movie rights you can share with readers?

I’m afraid all I have is not-so-positive news on that front, currently. The snags seemed to be more like roadblocks and detours, and I’m not sure when or if we’ll ever get diverted back to the main road. Alas, the hope is still there, but at this point it’s not much more than an idea and a plan that’s been explored a bit. Nothing tangible. (A/N: I feel a Make-Sempre-A-Movie Twitter Campaign coming on!)

5. We had the privilege of interviewing one of our favorite book boyfriends, Bryce Thompson, (see sidebar) and know you met him at The Naughty Mafia convention this past summer. Heather from Love N. Books called into the show and told us a few authors in attendance said they’d love to have him in the movie adaptation of their books, if given the chance, including you. We’re all for that, of course, and would love to know which character you could see Bryce playing in Sempre?

Ah, Bryce… what a gorgeous, kindhearted creature with a to-die-for accent (and goodness, he smelled AMAZING). I indeed recall saying he could come be in my movie anytime. Not quite sure there’s a part suited for him in Sempre, sadly, since my main characters are all either late teens or in their forties. Although, we do have Gavin and Remy in Redemption, and they’re in their mid-twenties. Hmmm…. (A/N: It’s good to hear him described as ‘kindhearted’!)

Fics2Flicks tracks divider

It’s so hard to talk about this book without wanting to give away spoilers (which I don’t). I think there are too many of us who have loved this story and its characters for so long (way back from its FF roots), that every reader should have the opportunity to discover and become invested in the story themselves.

It’s intense. There are some elements I was already familiar with from the original story, but it’s been streamlined in a less-is-more and right-to-the-point kind of way. The story flows so beautifully that I was always ‘in the moment’ while reading each scene.

One of the greatest compliments I think I can pay Ms. Darhower is to say this: There are some wonderful books that I’ve read where I felt like I was this privileged audience member, looking through a window, watching the story unfold. Then there is her story, where when I was reading it, I literally felt like I was shadowing the characters–and not just the one I most identify with or the one I like the best. It’s all of them. What each character has gone through in the past and how they react along the way is very emotional, and I felt it all. And the entire time, as I continued the book in search of redemption for all this couple had gone through already, I kept remembering the words the author had offered about Sempre…

36 - Edited

I hope you will all not only read this fantastic sequel to Sempre, but also read it the way I did, not stuck on the sidelines watching a story, but instead experiencing all of the character choices and emotions!

Creating a Scene at The 8th Circle

There are role players and then there are role players. The role players inspired by Tiffany Reisz’s epic The Original Sinners series raised the bar higher…and then sent glasses and bottles crashing to the floor when they swiped it clear to fuck on.

Welcome to the deliciously naughty world of the Original Sinners RP Twitter account.

8th Circle

Q&A With Tiffany Reisz

F2F: How involved are you with approving the people who run the RP characters?

TR: A wonderful woman who will remain nameless runs the RP group. She’s the Admin and handles everything. I do nothing at all but play around with my Sinners. (A/N: Thank you Admin!)

F2F: Do you have any creative control over what they tweet?

TR: Not really. My RPers are obsessed with accuracy so they often email or DM me to discuss plotlines or character traits. Otherwise I tell them to follow their bliss since the RPing is not canon.

F2F: There is no RP account for Søren. Was that your decision? Sacred ground so to speak?

TR: That was my one rule—no RP account for Søren. Come on, can you really see Søren tweeting?

F2F: As you know, I fell hard for Griffin and Mick in The Angel. Having them in my/our Twitter timeline (yes, I follow them on multiple accounts–don’t judge) is like getting to read an outtake every day. Have any of the RP character “scenes” made it into one of your books? (A/N: May or may not be thinking about Griffin and Mick in a hammock while typing this question. *nods*)

TR: Cassie is not one of my book characters but she was created for the RP group. So she made it into one of The Mistress Files. You’ll just have to keep reading to see if any other stories do…

F2F: While you have the floor, is there anything you’d like to say to the Original Sinners RP team?

TR: Keep up the good work, Sinners!

If you haven’t read The Angel yet *gasp,* you may want to check your wings here…

We promised you in our previous post (here) that today’s post would feature two very special guests. If you haven’t guessed already, the guests are two boys who are very close to my heart. Don’t get me wrong! I love all of the characters in Tiffany’s books; but in all honesty, I started the series for the sole purpose of getting to The Angel. I’m sure Griffin can relate to that. *Fiske bump* (A/N: Totally need a t-shirt with that on it.)

Welcome to the deliciously naughty world of m/m romance.

I’m sure I speak for most readers when I say that it’s difficult to say goodbye to characters you fall in love with on the page. You hope like hell the author will write a sequel and/or outtakes so that you can lose yourself in their world again. (A/N: Tiffany spoils us by offering free stories [here] and novellas/short stories [here].) That’s how it was for me with Griffin and Michael (Mick). Their story was everything I had hoped it would be and more, and I missed them the second I finished listening to The Angel. #audiobookaddict

I will never forget this defining moment…

Griffin and Mick

When I discovered Tiffany had approved a Twitter role-play account, I started checking out the tweets from Griffin and Mick. Remember when I said a reader hopes for an outtake?

Welcome to the deliciously naughty world of Griffin Fiske and Michael (Mick) Dimir.

F2F: Welcome, boys! Why don’t we start off with a visual for readers. What are each of you wearing? (A/N: If Griffin says a kilt, I’ll need a moment. js)

G: Right now? Mick. That’s about it. ::laughs:: What more would a man need?

M: *checks out how fuckhot G is and grins* Right now I’m wearing a pair of cargo shorts and a wife-beater/tank. Mom, Tiffany Reisz, calls it my artist outfit. It’s what I usually wear when we’re hanging out around the house. Unless we’re in the hammock I just recently had delivered to the house as a surprise… then, well, not much in the way of clothing is required for hanging out in the hammock. (A/N: So glad you put it to good use today btw.)

F2F: Griffin, when I first talked to you about doing a Q&A, your response was “Let me talk to Mick, and I’ll get back to you. We’re always up for promoting Tiffany’s work.” (A/N: Makes you melt even more that he checked with Mick first, right?) How long have you been promoting her via Twitter, and what made you want to do that in the first place?

G: ::laughs:: We’re a partnership. Always confer with your partner especially in a D/s relationship. Since what, October of last year? Something like that. Time flies when you’re feeling up your sub, what can I say? We’re both fans first and foremost, so getting the chance to play in Tiffany’s version of Wonderland is awesome.

M: *wraps my arms around G* I’m very fortunate to have a partner who makes sure I’m on board with everything we do. And ditto about being lucky to play in Tiffany’s OS World every day. She’s an incredible and benevolent creator. Aka: Mom. Kind of like Zeus when Athena popped out of his head. Tiffany squeezed all of us out of her head, so I tease her that we’re her honorary children. She’s just way more fuckhot than Zeus. Way more fuckhot.

F2F: How many hours on average would you say you spend on Twitter each day?

G: It really depends on RL schedules. Sometimes just a few minutes, sometimes hours depending on if we’re scening or watching the rest of the groups’ interactions and scenes. The Underground is full of some sexy funny people who it’s an honor to get to play with every day.

M: It also depends on whether technology is being a friend or foe that day (we all know that twitter and some of its apps aren’t the nicest to play with some days), whether we can both be on or just one of us can be on (studying really does eat up a lot of my time), or whether we just want to pop on and hangout to play music (I’m a sucker for playing twitter DJ) or check in with friends.

F2F: Do you try and plan your day out for followers or is it more spontaneous?

G: For us? It’s pretty spontaneous. For other players in the group you’d have to ask them.

M: Completely spontaneous. I don’t think we could do it any other way. It’s what works for us and what makes being with him, for me, new and fun and exciting every day we’re on the TL.

F2F: As I mentioned earlier, following your TL is like getting an outtake every day. It has definitely taken on a form of writing. Do you ever find yourself cock blocked…er…with writer’s block?

G: ::laughs:: Maybe time blocked is the word for it. Never cock blocked. ::leers at Mick:: Have you seen him? I mean, seriously. He’s beautiful. Coming up with ways to make him blush is my favorite past time.

M: *sighs & blushes deep red* Seriously, Sir? Do we have to go there every time? *shakes my head* Being with him is being granted perpetual inspiration. You mentioned the kilt above. You know what I’m talking about, right? So I don’t think I’ve ever experienced “writer’s block” with him. Now twitter, on the other hand, is an excellent cock blocker. But that’s a whole different topic….

F2F: You’re both very good at responding to followers’ tweets. Was being interactive with followers always a goal or something that evolved when you found yourself with your own fan base? *points at self*

G: For me it’s more of something that evolved. It’s fun to talk to followers on a daily basis and represent Tiffany’s characters.

M: *slides closer to G* For me? Definitely something that evolved and definitely something that is still evolving. I look at him sometimes and I’m in awe of how much of a natural he is with the followers and other RPers. Me? Not so much. I’m more introverted and tend to agonize over what to say. We have some followers who have been with us for a long time and those are the easiest for me to chat with. I’m still working on being as suave and sexy as my Master over here. (A/N: I, for one, love you just the way you are.)

F2F: Since you have the floor (and the hammock and the dungeon and the…I digress), is there anything you’d like to say to the little sinners that follow you? To your writer lady/mom?

G: Thank you to the little sinners who follow our group for supporting Tiffany and her creations. She writes beautifully sexy, hilariously, sometimes heartbreaking words that really everyone should read. At least once. Maybe twice after lunch. ::grins:: To our writer lady: A very simple thank you. It’s an honor to know you’re an awesome person, both the author self and personally.

M: To our followers? Just wow and thank you. We do what we do because we love Tiffany and her words. To follow us on the TL is a nod that we’re doing something right for her. To Tiffany? Thanks Mom for always being so authentic and supportive. I’m so fortunate that I get to share a tiny part in your beloved world and get to play in your OS playground every day.

F2F: Griffin, can you please cover Mick’s ears? *waits* Ok. Griff, is there anything you’d like to say to Mick about the time you spend together on Twitter?

G: ::laughs and covers Mick’s ears:: Sensory deprivation, huh? That’s some kinky shit. ::clears throat:: No, seriously. Getting the chance to spend time with Mick on Twitter is the best part of my day. Doing RP with someone is like having a relationship. You get to know all their idiosyncrasies and things that make them laugh and try to be the very best version of Tiffany’s characters.

F2F: You can uncover his ears, Griff. Thanks. Mick, can you please cover Griff’s ears now? (A/N: Getting Griffin and Mick to switch is an ongoing fantasy of mine. jsyk) Mick, is there anything you’d like to say to Griffin about the time you spend together on Twitter?

*smiles and kisses G under the jaw* Actually, I’d rather keep his ears uncovered and let him hear my answer. I kept some things from him a few months ago and that was a big issue between us. I promised not to do it again and I try really hard to keep my promises to him. I tell him this all the time but I’m not sure he believes me. When he found me all those many, many months ago, he saved me. Literally. Each and every second we spend on (and off) the TL is a gift – whether it’s just to pop on and say hi, or to hang out for the day and scene. He keeps me sane and laughing, and my life is infinitely better because he’s in it.

F2F: Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and for investing in the time it takes to keep this love story alive online. I’m happy we have a forum to let you know that your familiar banter provides a brief escape from the daily grind. Speaking of the daily grind… Now that the Q&A is over, what do you two have planned for the rest of the day? (A/N: Yep. Welcome to the deliciously naughty world of shameless requests. #boyskissingftw)

G: ::laughs and points to our bed:: You’re looking at it. Bed. Preferably on, in, around or behind Mick. My favorite place to be.

M: *points to the hammock and grins wickedly* I’m pretty sure I’ll beg for us to crawl back into the hammock after we attempt to break the bed. And btw? #boykissing is one of our favorite ways to spend the day. jsyk

F2F: Mick, I’m going to let you sign us off in your signature way…

M: Thanks for having us today. And to all the Sinners out there – Keep reading Tiffany Reisz’s awesome words and spread the love by telling your friends and their friends…. Have a great week, stay safe and be good to each other. *crawls into G’s lap and reaches over to slam the Fics2Flicks door shut so I can go back to ravaging my Dom*

Remember when I said every day with them on Twitter is like an outtake? Looks like Mick got his wish. Excerpt from today’s TL…

@Master_Griffin *grins against your lips* Maybe I can compel you to do other things today Sir?

@mick8thCir ::snickers and nips your lip:: Like what? Enlighten me, sub.

@Master_Griffin *wraps my arms around you* Well, since we’re back from Fiji, I thought we could relive our vacation by hanging out in (c)

Mick Dimir ‏@mick8thCir4h

@Master_Griffin (c) the hammock, Sir. JS.

@mick8thCir ::kisses your neck:: If the hammock is a rockin’….

@Master_Griffin *moans and grabs your hand to drag you off to the hammock* … don’t come a knockin’…

@mick8thCir ::grins as you pull me along, admiring your ass:: I do love my eager sub.

@Master_Griffin *laughs when I look back and catch you ogling my ass* I do love my ever indulging Dom.

@mick8thCir ::smacks your ass, making you jump:: I’m a very greedy Dom when it comes to you, sub.

@Master_Griffin *rubs my ass with my free hand and tugs you faster to the hammock* Can I just say that I love it when you’re greedy Sir?

@mick8thCir ::grins and nips your shoulder as we move through the house:: For you? Always.

@Master_Griffin *guides you the back patio and slips into the hammock, pulling you on top of me* Much, much better, Sir.

@mick8thCir ::grins playfull and kisses you:: You say that any time I’m on top of you, inside you, under you, behind you….

@Master_Griffin *traces your lips with my tongue as I run my hands up and down your back* All of my favorite places for you to be Sir.

@Master_Griffin *traces your lips with my tongue as I run my hands up and down your back* All of my favorite places for you to be Sir.

@mick8thCir places to be, Mick.

@Master_Griffin *grasps onto the bar and arches my hips under you, moaning softly when you bite and suck across my neck and collarbone*

@mick8thCir ::moans against your neck when you arch underneath me:: Fuck I love our hammock.

@Master_Griffin *spreads my legs to cradle you between them, hissing in a breath when you bite down and mark me above my collar* Best (c)

@Master_Griffin (c) Purchase Ever, Sir.

The Siren Herself… Tiffany Reisz

si·ren /sīrən/ a seductively beautiful and charming woman, esp. one who beguiles men

Pretty sure Zach would approve of this edit…

si·ren /sīrən/ a seductively beautiful and charming woman, esp. one who beguiles men and women

Tiffany Reisz is, by definition, a siren. She’s a seductively beautiful and charming woman beguiling women like me with her brilliantly written series The Original Sinners.

Original Sinners

The Siren (The Original Sinners #1)

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different—more serious, more personal—and she’s sure it’ll be her breakout book…if it ever sees the light of day. Zachary Easton holds Nora’s fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: he wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards—in six weeks—or it’s no deal. Nora’s grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining…and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous—staying away from him…or returning to his bed? Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

I want to keep this post as spoiler free as possible, so I won’t be going into a detailed review of each book. What I can tell you is that Tiffany Reisz has created a world that isn’t just erotic, it’s intense, thought-provoking, and wickedly playful. She doesn’t shy away from topics that may be considered taboo, but the characters wouldn’t be so “real” without the brutal/beautiful honesty. I can’t say enough about Tiffany’s words…words that breathe life into her deliciously complicated characters.

If you don’t already know, Tiffany is very open and inviting to her fans. She’s active on Twitter, makes appearances at conventions and book signings, and has even participated in Google hangouts (Last Call Brittany here and here)—discussing anything and everything, clearly comfortable in her own skin. She’s just so damn…well…cool. So while we weren’t surprised that she accepted our invitation to do a Q&A, we were honored.

F2F: What was the original plot bunny that started you on Nora’s journey? Or maybe it was Søren’s?

TR: The plot bunny was Zach actually. I was/am obsessed with English actor Jason Isaacs. He said in an interview that although he played villains all the time, he wanted to play a part more like he was in real life—neurotic, British, Jewish, etc. I created Zach Easton as a super sexy neurotic Jewish guy with a broken heart. Such a stuffy Brit needed a good foil, and Nora was born to drive him up the wall and into her bed.

F2F: Were you always planning on a series, or did it evolve into one after you were picked up by a publisher?

TR: I kept creating these minor characters in The Siren that I fell in love with—Kingsley, Michael, Griffin. I had to write more books just for them. (A/N: *dances* Let’s hear it for the boys!)

F2F: Speaking of getting published, how did you celebrate once you got the acceptance news?

TR: I danced on my desk at work in front of a large crowd of people. Fact.

F2F: Do you have your own “Zach” at the publishing company?

TR: I have a wonderful editor who is classy and beautiful. I have no idea why she puts up with me. But she doesn’t tear my books apart like Zach does to Nora.

F2F: Who chooses the book/series titles, and at what point in the writing process is that done?

TR: I choose the book titles and the series titles. I have a title before I write. Sometimes it changes but it’s always me who picks the titles.

F2F: Who designed the original covers, and are you involved in the creative process at all?

TR: I give ideas to my publisher for book covers. The Angel was my idea. Everything else they do. I love my covers. (A/N: They’re perfect.)

F2F: Is there any significance to the character names you chose?

TR: The names are incredibly significant. (A/N: So glad we asked this question. Fascinating stuff.)

  • The main characters of The Siren are all named after the four cardinal directions to indicate the different directions Nora is being pulled. Nora Sutherlin—North/South; Wesley—West; Zachary Easton—East; Søren—South
  • Also the two main “offices” of Jesus Christ are The Priest and The King. So I have a priest and a Kingsley.
  • Nora’s real last name is Schreiber which is a German verb meaning “to write.”

F2F: What are the challenges (research, literary, psychological, logistical) of bringing The Original Sinners to life?

TR: My only challenge is making myself sit down and write. I’m kinky so I know how to write that part. Otherwise the only struggle is coming up with good fun mindgames and plot twists.

F2F: I have listened to The Siren, The Angel, The Prince, and Submit to Desire via I’m so happy The Mistress will be available as an audiobook. Any news on The Mistress Files or other novellas being added?

TR: No news yet!

F2F: Are you involved in the audiobook process at all, such as choosing narrators?

TR: None whatsoever.

F2F: It was a big day for fans when you announced you would be writing The Original Sinners – The White Years Quartet, which will be prequels. When do you hope to have the first book available for readers? Any message from Father Søren you’d like to share with readers?

TR: I’m not sure when my publisher plans to release The Priest: A Romance. It’s up to them. I’m guessing February/March/April of 2014. No message from Søren. He’s too busy trying to keep Eleanor under control.

F2F: Is it easier writing forward for The Red Years or backwards for The White Years?

TF: The White Years prequels are an interesting challenge as I have to make sure I don’t mess up the continuity. Nora has lots of flashbacks in The Red Years books so I don’t want to write a scene that takes place when she’s 16 that I said happens when she’s 17. Otherwise the prequels are wonderfully fun to write.

F2F: Have you received any interest in your books being optioned for film or TV? *fingers crossed*

TR: Not that I know of. (A/N: Kingsley [Gaspard Ulliel] and Søren [Nikolaj Coster-Waldau] are not optional, so hold out for casting control if you get the call! lol)

Kingsley and Soren

F2F: Will there be more free reads/novellas to go along with The Red Years? (A/N: Free stories here. Novellas and short stories here.)

TR: Whenever I get a chance to write them, I will.

F2F: Thank you so much for taking the time to do a Q&A with us!

TR: Always!

The advantage to coming in late to a series is that you can lose yourself in one book right after another and not have to wait to spend more time in a world you never want to leave. When I first started the series, I didn’t know there was going to be a fourth book. A huge cliffie at the end of The Prince left me waiting anxiously for The Mistress, the last installment of The Original Sinners – The Red Years Quartet. Well, the wait is almost over…

Synopsis and pre-ordering info here.

The Mistress (The Original Sinners #4)

Kingsley started toward the door to his office, but it opened before he got to it. A beautiful redheaded woman, her pale skin painted with freckles, swept into the office ahead of Griffin.

“Ma’am, you can’t barge in-” Griffin said and Kingsley raised his hand.

“Hello,” the woman said facing Kingsley.

“May I help you?”

“Yes, you can tell me what the Hell is going on. Where’s Nora?”

“I would tell you if I knew, Madame. Perhaps you could tell me who you are?”

“My name is Grace Easton, and I know that means nothing to you, but I’m friends with Nora. I tried to call her and got Wesley. He told me someone had taken her and…”

She continued speaking in her light and musical accent. While she spoke Kingsley walked over to one of his filing cabinets, opened it, and thumbed through his files. He pulled one out, walked back over to her, and let her finish her speech.

“…and I’m not leaving until someone tells me what’s going on. Or at least let me speak to Wesley. I know I seem like a madwoman showing up out of nowhere, and you have no idea who I am but I promise-”

“Grace Easton, neé Rowan, age thirty,” Kingsley said opening the file. “Irish mother. Welsh father. Fluent in Welsh, I see. I think that’s the one language le prêtre doesn’t speak. You’re much more beautiful now than you were back in school, and you were trés jolie back in your school days. No wonder Professor Easton deflowered you on his desk. Although had it been me, it would have been the desk, the floor, the wall, back on the desk but from behind…”

He pulled a photograph of a twenty-two year-old Grace Easton on her graduation day standing with her husband, Zachary Easton, and held it up to her.

She stared at it with wide turquoise eyes. “My God…Nora wasn’t exaggerating.”

Kingsley put the photograph back into the file. “Welcome to Hell, Mrs. Easton. Now if you wouldn’t mind, get out.”

On Monday, July 29th, we’ll be posting our discussion with Tiffany about her author-approved role players on Twitter (@The8thCircleRP). We’ll also have a Q&A with two very special guests from The Angel!

Sempre — The Unnamed Sequel Has a Name!

We’ve been fans of JM Darhower and her powerful story Sempre since, well, forever…

and it’s been worth it!

Now, we know we’re still a relatively young blog,

but that never stops us from thinking big!

Like THIS big…

So, when JM Darhower tweeted that she needed one more book blog to announce the official title of the sequel to Sempre, Chick kitt happened to be on twitter and politely, but seriously, DM’d her to express interest on behalf of this blog.

i volunteer as tribute

A few hours later, Chick Lisa saw the call from JM while she was out and was a little more desperate in her response…

I volunteer!

When we chicks didn’t hear back right away, we thought we’d missed out! We may or may not have done a little of this…

missed out

An email came from JM the following day saying that we were in. There was definitely a whole lot of this going on…

Seinfield happy dance

Now that we have the go-ahead…

let’s move on to the exciting announcement!

As the author announced here, the rights to Sempre and The Unnamed Sequel (Sempre: Redemption) were sold to Simon & Schuster. They are treating it as a fresh acquisition, which is why both books are getting the complete treatment (editing, cover, promo, etc.).

From the highly anticipated sequel…

The black Mazda RX-8 sped along the worn gravel road, twisting and turning as it penetrated deeper into the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Haven clutched onto the passenger seat as the car haphazardly weaved through the dense forest.

“Are we lost?” she asked hesitantly as she stared at her boyfriend. Carmine was slouched in the driver’s seat, fiddling with the radio. Sunglasses shielded his eyes from her, so she couldn’t tell if he was paying any attention to the road.

Haven glanced out the windshield, squinting from the early morning sunshine. Things looked the same in every direction-nothing but endless trees surrounding them. How could he know? “Are you sure?”

Stubborn. “Where are we going?”

“You’ll see.”

Shaking her head, Haven surveyed the area. At first it appeared to be nothing unusual, a small gap in the trees with a cabin set a few yards away, until she spotted the faded white sign in the distance. Landell Christmas Tree Farm, it said in green hand-painted letters.

Although it felt as if time had stopped for the two of them, the calendar told a different story. It was the 23rd of December already, a month since they’d returned to the small North Carolina town of Durante in an attempt to get back to their lives… in an attempt to regain a bit of normalcy and piece together their relationship. It had been a struggle, dealing with the fallout of her kidnapping, but they took it day-by-day.

Together, the two of them set out through the tree farm.

“How about this one?” she asked after a while, stopping in front of a tree a few inches taller than her. “Do you like it?”

Carmine hardly even looked. “It’s too bare.”

Haven’s brow furrowed, unsure as to what he was talking about. The branches appeared full to her. “So finicky.”

“Whatever,” he muttered. “Do you see any others?”

“Uh…” She glanced around, randomly motioning toward another tree a few feet away. “What about that one?”

Carmine scanned it. “Perfect.”

Letting go of her hand, Carmine studied the tree, deciding how to go about taking it down. Haven watched him for a moment and burst into laughter when he took his first swing. It barely even sliced the thick bark.

Carmine groaned. “What’s so funny?”

“This is going to take you all day,” she said. “We should’ve just picked one that was already chopped down.”

“That’s cheating,” he said. “Just because it’s the easy way doesn’t mean it’s the best way. Sometimes it’s better to put in the work.”

He whacked the trunk repeatedly, the blade eventually cutting through the wood. Despite the cold temperatures, by the time the tree tilted, Carmine was huffing and drenched with sweat. It gathered along his forehead, running down the side of his face and dripping from his chiseled jaw. Haven watched him struggle in silence, a familiar pang of guilt deep down inside of her gut as she was reminded of what he’d done.

This boy-this stubborn, selfless, stupid boy-had given himself to the Mafia. He’d handed control of his future over to the men they hated most in exchange for her life. For her safety. And he’d done it so easily, so quickly, like there wasn’t even a choice at all… like making this sacrifice for her came just as naturally as breathing.

The act had left him fractured, and Haven was still trying to come to grips with the fact that it may be a long time before he was whole again. She was grateful to be alive, picking out a Christmas tree with the boy she loved, but she was also angry. Not at him-not anymore. That anger had been unfounded. She was mad at herself now, and at the universe, because no matter what she did, she couldn’t help Carmine.

Once again in her life, Haven felt powerless.

So she stood by silently, continuing to watch, terrified of looking him in the eyes one day and seeing regret. Frightened that someday, he’d turn to her, and she’d see her worst fear playing out in his face: that she hadn’t been worth it.

(A/N: This —> This boy-this stubborn, selfless, stupid boy… *flails* And just like that, we’re transported back “there.” Is it December yet?!)

As if that’s not enough, each of the four participating blogs has a character reveal for fans!

Recognize this beautiful man?

because sometimes, no matter the consequences,
a man has to take risks to protect the ones he loves.

From Corrado…

The end justifies the means: the belief that it’s okay to do immoral things as long as it’s for a good cause. Not everyone agrees with the concept, but I certainly do.

It doesn’t matter what I did along the way—what I stole, which lies I told, who I annihilated—as long as I had a good reason to do it all. And protecting my family… honoring my family… is the only reason I’ve ever had for anything.

Personally, I can’t think of a better reason than that.

I don’t particularly like some of the things I’ve done, and I’m certainly not proud of a lot of it. There’s no room for pride in the life of a man like me. I did it because I had to do it. It’s as simple as that. And if I could go back and relive my life, I’d make all the same choices all over again.

Not to say I don’t feel any remorse, because I do, but wallowing in regret is pointless. The end justifies the means. And the end… well… all I can say is that when the end comes, I’ll hold my head high as long as I did everything I could for my family.

Am I a bad man? I’m sure some people think so. Maybe even you do, but it doesn’t matter. Opinions mean nothing. I live my life by facts. And the fact of the matter is, I may not live to see tomorrow, but I’m alive today. And as long as my heart’s still beating, I’ll fight with everything left in me to do what I have to do.

For a message from Carmine, visit Aestas Book Blog (here).
For a message from Haven, visit Bookish Temptations (here).
For a message from Vincent, visit Forever 17 Books (here)

We know you’re as excited as we are if you’re here reading this. Thanks for stopping by. Special thanks to JM Darhower and Simon & Schuster/Pocket Books for letting us take part in the reveal.

And so it is that this story about sacrifice… death… love… freedom… this story about forever… continues. And we will continue to be fans… sempre!
